Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years

Joyce Jaye Shepard

Joyce Jaye Shepard passed away at Washakie Medical Center surrounded by family on Saturday, September 25, 2021.

Joyce was born in Phoenix, Arizona to Lee Edward and Jessie Lula (Laird) Shepard on January 6, 1946. She spent most of her young adult life in Phoenix. She married Larry Baker in 1966 and from this union they were blessed with three children. Later in life, Joyce and Larry parted ways, and Joyce moved to Worland in 1997 to be near her children and grandchildren.

More than anything in life, Joyce loved spending time with her family, laughing and joking. She had an amazing sense of humor and would light up any room she entered. She loved crossword puzzles and other word games and was a stickler for grammar. Joyce loved to go out in the hills on adventures with her kids and grandchildren to explore and enjoy the wildlife.

She had a passion for taking care of others and loved her job as a CNA. She truly enjoyed the residents that she cared for. She loved her little pet cockatiel, Doodle, her companion of 21 years.

Joyce really loved Jesus and knew where she was going when she left here, and we take great comfort knowing where she is now.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Tim Shepard and her sister Jan Shepard.

Survivors include her daughters, Jonell (Cary) Wilson of Newcastle and Janene Baker of Worland; son, Lance Baker of Minnesota; brother, Larry Shepard of Showlow, Arizona; sister, Julie Shepard of California; grandchildren: Alex King, Tyler Larrauri, Janette Larrauri, Erik Kern, Brendan Baker, Billy Clark, Emilee Clark, Becky Martinez, Brittany Torres and Colton Dorr, and 8 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at http://www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
