Ralph Leonard Appelt, 84, passed away at home on October 3, 2021, in Tucson, AZ.
Ralph was born to Pearl and Emanuel Appelt in Martin, ND in Sheridan County on July 27, 1937. Raised on the family farm until graduation from Harvey High School in 1956, he attended college in Bismarck, ND, earning a teaching degree. He taught a short time before moving to Billings, MT where he began a successful career in traveling sales of heavy industrial equipment, working and living also in Great Falls, MT. Ralph eventually moved to Worland, WY, continuing his sales career. He lived a short time in Idaho before moving to Arizona in 1997, where he remained. Ralph was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, and gardening. He loved cooking, making his homemade sausage, watching westerns, and keeping up with politics.
Ralph is preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law Geraldine and John Dethloff and sister-in-law Elaine Appelt (Richard).
Ralph is survived by his wife of 35 years, Julia, brothers Robert (Darlene) of Martin, ND, and Richard of Lake Villa, IL, daughter Karla Hostetler (Richard) of Billings, MT, son Miles Appelt (Alice) of Billings, MT, daughter Stacey George (Rodger) of Tucson, AZ, daughter Megan Appelt (Casey) of Tucson, AZ, stepson Jesse Samuel Bradsby (Robin) of Phoenix, AZ, grandchildren, Leah Poelma, Jenny Turley, Justin Hostetler of Billings, MT, Riley George of Tucson, AZ, Jason, Brandy and James Bradsby of Phoenix, AZ, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private family memorial service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, Ralph asked that you donate to St. Jude's Hospital.
