Christmas activities abound this weekend

WORLAND – Following on the heels of the Pioneer Square Lighting Ceremony last weekend, this weekend features a plethora of Christmas activities around town.

FESTIVAL OF TREES RETURNS FRIDAY

Activities kick off on Friday with the return of the Pinnacle Bank Festival of Trees. The doors open at 5 p.m. and the auction starts at 6 p.m. at the main gym at the Worland Community Center Complex

There are 37 businesses signed up for this year’s event. The auction raises funds for various non-profit organizations in Washakie County. Last year’s event was canceled due to COVID concerns.

As per usual, the festival on Friday will feature in addition to the auction, entertainment, as well as coffee, waffles and cookies.

The event continues Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. with entertainment. Audrey Truman will be performing from 10 to 10:30 a.m., Breck Buer and Shane Foote perform from 10:30 to 11 a.m., Liz Jolley from 11 to 11:30, Tap’s Dance Studio from 11:30 to 11:45 a.m., WHS Choir from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 12:30 to 1 p.m. will be the Psalm Choir and from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Kurt’s Karate will perform.

BREAKFAST WITH SANTA ON SATURDAY

This weekend, the Worland Kiwanis will be holding their 13th Breakfast with Santa.

The breakfast will be from 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Worland Senior Center. They will be serving pancakes and sausage.Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there for a photograph. They will have a photographer there to take the photos in the conference room in the senior center. They will be selling breakfast in the dining room.

“This breakfast gives kids a chance to talk to Santa during the Christmas season and it’s a fundraiser for Kiwanis,” Steve Radabaugh, president of the Worland Kiwanis Club, said. “We use the funds to support a variety of things for young children in the community.”

PARADE OF LIGHTS SATURDAY EVENING

To close the weekend activities off will be the annual Parade of Lights sponsored by the Worland-Ten Sleep Chamber of Commerce on Saturday night at 6 p.m. The parade will follow the usual route from 20th Street down Big Horn Avenue to Railway. There will be fireworks after the parade. Alongside the parade, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be at Pioneer Square from 4 to 5 p.m. before the parade. Goose’s Bar will be serving s’mores to children, and there will be a free chili dinner.

TEN SLEEP TREE LIGHTING

Also this weekend in Ten Sleep is the tree lighting at the Ten Sleep Community Garden on Friday night at 6 p.m.

There will be hot cocoa, cookies and fun as the community tree is lit up.
