WORLAND – This year, Worland High School has seven students attending the annual All-State Music Festival, put on by the Wyoming High School Activities Association (WHSAA).
According to Worland High School choir teacher and assistant band director Connor Dennis, All-State is a gathering of music educators and music students from across the state of Wyoming.
"Students audition in October and are scored anonymously," he said. "Based on their scores, they may be accepted to sing in the All-State Honor band, choir or orchestra. If accepted, they are sent music which they practice on their own time. The All-State committee brings in renowned guest conductors to work with the students for the Festival."
The students will travel to Rock Springs January 16-18.
The students selected are Ethan Miller on oboe, Harley Redding on trombone and Gavin Schneider on trumpet for orchestra, Lucas Hamer and Canton Green on trombones for band and Kadyn Riley (tenor) and Maren Cottrell (soprano) for the choir portion. This is Redding's third All-State selection, and Schneider's fourth.
The students will be performing a concert on Jan. 18 in Rock Springs to show off their work.
