Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years
WORLAND – Retired Marine, pastor and actor Ken Bevel is this year’s guest speaker for the ninth annual CatchAFire.
Bevel, a native of Jacksonville, Florida, spent 20 years doing active service in the United State Marine Corps before retiring to serve in the ministry. According to his biography at Premiere Speakers Bureau, he served tours in Iraq and Afghanistan while in the military.
He currently serves as the pastor of Membership and Local Missions at Sherwood Baptist Church.
Bevel may be recognized for his roles in the films “Fireproof” as Lt. Michael Simmons and “Courageous” as Nathan Hayes.
Bevel is a graduate of the University of Memphis, with a Bachelor of Science in computer engineering technology and a graduate of the Naval Postgraduate School with a Master of Business Administration in logistics management. He and his wife, Lauana have been happily married for 25 years and have two children, Kyra and Kaleb.
CatchAFire, an annual Big Horn Basin event held in Worland ministers to boys and men. The vision of CatchAFire is to see men of Wyoming glorify God by coming to a right understanding of who Christ is and living according to his design and purpose revealed in his word, according to a release from CatchAFire.
CatchAFire is disciplining men through speakers, worship and bonded Christian fellowship to come and grow in the right relationship with Jesus Christ who will empower each and every one of them to be the men that God calls them to be.
The event begins on Friday, Jan. 28 and lasts until the next day. It takes place at the Worland Middle School Auditorium, with a small entry fee to get in. The doors open at 5:30. Overnight accommodations are available upon request.
Friday night’s event includes dinner, music and the guest speaker. There will also be a raffle.
The event continues Saturday, Jan. 29. With breakfast, music and guest speaker is local Pastor Brandon Weddle.
