Shirley M. Beyer-Howrey, 86, died Sunday, April 17, in her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on May 16, 1935, in Worland, WY, to Vernon and Elta (Wortham) Hunt. Following high school graduation in Worland she attended Sioux Falls College in Sioux Falls, SD.
On March 25, 1956, in Worland, WY, she married Kenneth W. Beyer.
Shirley enjoyed the privilege of being able to stay at home with her children. She also spent time in the community working at Daily News, Worland Ford (twice), Linton's, Denim Tree, The Bible Book Store, and Town and Country Department store.
Survivors include their daughter, Kay (Chuck) King, sons Ross (Kelley) Beyer, and Thomas (Kristi) Beyer, eight grandchildren: Rachel Judy, Kenny (Maddie) Beyer, Jordan (Brooke) Beyer, Brook Beyer, Christian Beyer, Parker Beyer, Levi (Nicole) French, Jake French, Kenton King, and Tyler (Amber) King. Five great-grandchildren, Kable French, Kimber French, Brock French, Andrew King, and Ezra King.
On August 22, 1998, in Powell, WY, she married William "Bill" Howrey. Survivors include his children, Steve (Karen) Howrey, Phil (Susanne) Howrey, Debbie (Jerry) Suits, and Tim Howrey. Grandchildren, Carina Howrey, Stephanie (Peter) Martens, Maja Howrey, Ben (Sam) Howrey, William Suits, Natalia Suits, and Michael (Kamila) Suits. Great grandchildren, Gunner Howrey, Noah Howrey, Gage Howrey, Eli Howrey, Mac Howrey, Jack Howrey, and Ruth Howrey.
Shirley's brother Harry (Gloria) Hunt lives in Spearfish, SD, sister-in -law Dorothy (Doyle) Hunt lives in Grand Island, NE, sister-in-law Maxine Beyer lives in Casper WY, and brother and sister-in-law Faye and Judy Howrey live in Sandpoint ID. Shirley has numerous much-loved cousins, nephews, nieces, and treasured friends.
She was preceded in death by both of her husbands, her oldest daughter, Karen S. Judy, Karen's husband, Sam Judy, her father and mother, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, and her siblings Dorothy Holt and Doyle Hunt.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 30, at the CrossPoint Baptist Church with Pastor Jess Rollema officiating. A luncheon to follow.
She will lie in state Friday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Veile Colonial Chapel, 301 S. 8th Street. Refreshments will be served during this time of visiting with family and friends.
