Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years

Mary Buchanan

Mary Buchanan, 79, beloved Mother and Grandmother, was called to her eternal resting place on May 26, 2022. She entered this world on September 6, 1942, in Worland, Wyoming, born to Frank and Jeanne Copp. She married Neil Buchanan on October 26, 1969. They were married 41 years until Neil's death in 2010.

Mary was an avid movie watcher and loved to read. This love of movies really made her an expert when she owned the Show Biz Video store. Boy, did she know her movies! Mary was also known for her activity in the community. She served on the board of Big Brothers Big Sisters, worked for the Anti-tobacco coalition for the State of Wyoming, was fervent in developing a suicide prevention program for Washakie County, and volunteered teaching Catechism at Sacred Heart Church for many years.

She was famous for her Angel Food cakes which she baked up six at a time - the trick was always in the extra almond extract. One of Mary's favorite times of year was beet harvest. She loved "driving truck" and would use her annual vacation time to make it happen.

Mary's go-getter attitude and outgoing personality made her loved by all who knew her. She was a loyal and trusted friend to many. Even to the very end, she showed her nurturing side and continued to serve those around her. She will be missed.

She is survived by her son Michael Buchanan (Nickie); daughter Jeanne Woodfin (Fred); granddaughter Jade Woodfin; and grandson Gabriel Woodfin.

A celebration of life and open house will be held at One Oak Activity Center, 1115 Obie Sue, Worland, WY 82401 from 1pm - 5 pm on Saturday, July 9th, 2022.
