WORLAND - County fairs and rodeos are the perfect venues for Jared Rogerson and the Rodeo Wreck and they will be bringing their "rodeo rock" music to Worland for a free concert Thursday night in the stage area. The concert starts at 8 p.m.
Rogerson, who hails from Pinedale said, "The reason I love to play at county fair and rodeos is because I think it's the best venue for my music. It's definitely suitable to rural audiences and people that are in to horses, rodeos and Wyoming culture."
Rogerson has been performing professionally for the last 12 years.
"Prior to that I was just bringing a guitar to parties. I was riding in rodeos before actually. I probably would have started music a lot sooner. It's been in my blood forever. It's something I've always wanted to do. It's always been in my blood," Rogerson said.
He said he loves to write songs and grew up doing that.
"I loved to sing. Eventually I thought it would be really cool to write songs for other people to sing. Eventually I came to the realization if anyone is going to hear any of these songs, it's going to be me that plays and sings them."
He said competing in rodeo was "a pretty cool dream to live in and of itself. Eventually I had my last rodeo wreck, and I seized the moment to jump off that deal and chase a new dream. My passion started as a song writer and led to me becoming a performer. Now I tour all over."
Rogerson describes his music as rocky-mountain country and rodeo rock. "It's pretty high energy for country music but it's definitely about stuff most people in Wyoming kind of get," he said.
He has released five albums – mostly with original music. He has just released a new single June 24, "I'm Not Alright" and another single will be released on Friday, "Cadillac Cowboy." "It's definitely what I would call a rodeo rock song," Rogerson said.
Rogerson said one of his biggest music inspirations has been Chris LeDoux, but he added that he has also been influenced by all kinds of music.
"It just has to be good. I don't really care about the genre. All the different styles and sounds has influenced what I do. They kind of mesh together into what I play."
He added that the band Rodeo Wreck is an all Wyoming band.
