TEN SLEEP — The Washakie County School District No. 2 Board of Trustees approved an overall budget of $37,528,810 at Monday’s monthly meeting and budget hearing.
The majority of the budget, $31.9 million is in capital construction for the new school.
The general fund budget approved was $3,641,225, which is slightly above last year’s. The 2022-23 budget message this year to the board indicated that the budget increased $148,926 from last year and is primarily made up of increases to employee salaries, employee benefits and utilities.
The special revenue fund budget for the 2022-23 fiscal year is $172,614, teacherage fund is $71,588, major maintenance at $663,450, depreciation reserve $758,054, food service fund $197,582, insurance fund at $19,956 and pupil activity at $74,342.
The budget includes an increase of $1,500 to the base for employees, and a 50-cent per hour increase for steps and lanes.
The board also approved the Ten Sleep Recreation District budget for $128,316. Business Manager and rec board member Rachel Casteel said the big project for the district is a warming hut for the ice skating rink.
