Felicitas Sosa Zuniga

Felicitas Sosa Zuniga, known as Fela, 86, passed away peacefully with her loving family surrounding her at Worland Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Worland, Wyoming on July 22, 2022.

Fela was born in San Perlita, Texas to Encarnacion and Petra (Hernandez) Sosa on January 20, 1936. As a child, her family moved around a lot doing seasonal work before finally settling in Worland, WY in June 1958. On July 18, 1958, she married Bonifacio Zuniga at the Catholic Church in Worland. To this union, eight children were born: Bonifacio Jr., John Joe, Tammy, Manuela, Mary, David, Pedro, and Angie. Fela was a stay-at-home mother. She took immense pride in keeping a clean home and dressing her children nicely. Fela loved to cook, and you could always find her in the kitchen making tortillas for not only her kids, but the neighborhood kids as well. She loved her children more than life itself and she would do anything for them. This love poured over into her grandchildren as well. Her many grandchildren carry fond memories of all the time spent with their Grandma Zuniga. Fela was a very devout Catholic. Every Sunday at church, you could expect to see an entire pew filled with Fela, Bonifacio, and all their children. Her strong faith was passed down throughout her family, and she taught us the importance of prayer. She was up every morning, hours before anyone else, spending time with the Lord, praying and reading her scriptures, or as she called them "oraciones."

Fela has joined her parents in heaven. She has also been reunited with her brother, Manuel Sosa; her sisters, Tonia Sosa Cardenas, and Hilaria "Lala" Sosa; a granddaughter, Gabriela Zuniga; and other family members that have gone before us.

She leaves behind her husband of 64 years, Bonifacio of Worland, WY; children: Bonifacio Jr. of Laramie, WY, John Joe, Tammy (Mike) Montoya, Manuela Isbell, Mary Mueller all of Worland, WY, David (Dawn) Zuniga of New Brighton, MN, Pedro Zuniga of Mounds View, MN, and Anjelica (Dana) Shumway of Aurora, CO; brothers, Jose Luis Sosa of Moorcroft, WY, and Jose "Pizza" (Carolyn) Trevino of Dixon, IL; sister, Frances (Eddie) Narvaez of Brownsville, TX; grandchildren (in order from oldest to youngest): Jay (Krystal) Zuniga, Jessarae (Jonah) Baker, Michela (James) Dorman, Jeremy Isbell, Delana Isbell, Shayna Mueller, Alicia Zuniga, Alexis Zuniga, Destiny Zuniga Leyva, Nicco Zuniga, Orlanda (Dustin) Gibson, Phoenix (Matt) Douglass, Gabriel Zuniga Isbell, Michael Zuniga, Triston Zuniga, Christopher Zuniga, Ajiah Montoya, Jaiden Zuniga, & Isabella, Eliana, Benjamin, and Emmersyn Shumway; 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Fela will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, her love for children, her sense of humor, her back massages, and her unwavering generosity and service to others.
