Council candidates could face opposition from write-ins

WORLAND — With each Worland City Council race receiving write-in votes, the candidates that were on the ballot in Tuesday’s primary election could face opposition in the November general election.

It takes three eligible write-in votes for someone to officially be nominated. The person must accept and pay the filing fee to be on the ballot in November. Write-in candidates will not be known until Friday after the county canvassing board meets.

For Ward 1 two-year seat, Rebecca George received 517 votes. There were four write-in votes cast.

For the two four-year terms in Ward 1, Adam Martinez received 477 votes, Barbie Brookwell received 420. There were six write-in votes cast.

In Ward 2 for the four-year seat, Pete Calderon received 554 votes. There were four write-in votes cast.

For the two four-year seats up in Ward 3, incumbents Mike Neufer received 254 votes and Kreg Lombard received 174 votes. There were 14 write-in votes cast.
