Crowded Worland school board race; 14 file

WORLAND — All but one incumbent for the Washakie County School District No. 1 Board of Trustees has filed for re-election with a total of 14 candidates seeking four seats on the board.

The filing period for the Nov. 8 general election ended Monday. There are four four-year seats on the board.

Incumbents Don Bryant, Sarah Lungren and Terri Logan have filed for re-election. Duane Whitlock opted not to seek re-election.

Challenging the incumbents are Ray Black, John Burns, Kelly Erickson, Angela Leone, Kathy Mercado, Rance Neighbors, Casey Rice, Shane Seghetti, Lareina Stewart, Grady Trombley and Mandy Weaver.

Incumbers for the Ten Sleep school board are unopposed to retain their seats.

Bill Murphy and Marc Dykstra filed for the two four-year seats on the board and Shana Harstad filed for the two-year seat. All three were appointed within the past 12 months to the board.

Filings for the other special districts on the general election ballot are as follows:

Worland Fire Protection District No. 1: Lance M. Berryman and Ray Witt. Berryman is currently on the board, seeking re-election. There are two seats open this year.

Ten Sleep Fire District: Daniel Greet. There is one four-year term for an outside city limit seat.

Ten Sleep Cemetery: Frederick A. Drake, Robert Compton and Jack Haggerty. All three are currently serving on the board.

Washakie County Conservation District: Daniel Greet for the two-year rural seat; Charley Orchard, Keith Bower and Shreve Stockton for the four-year rural seat and Jaclyne Harkink for the four-year urban seat. Orchard is currently on the board of directors, elected in 2018.
