Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years
Victor was born March 16, 1930 in Burlington, WY to Delbert Olsen and Lydia (Dustin) Olsen.
He graduated high school in Lovell, WY. He served a mission in Denmark, where he learned to speak and write Danish fluently.
After returning from his mission he met and married Shirley (Mills), they later divorced. Victor worked as a Master Electrician and Lineman for Big Horn REA, the REAs in Sheridan and Buffalo. In 1975 he met and married Georgia (McPherren). In 1978 Victor moved his family to Hillsboro, OR, where he worked as a safety instructor for Ruralite Services in Forest Grove, OR. He traveled to six states teaching safety to rural electric companies.
He retired after eight years and moved back to Wyoming where he and his family settled in Worland. Victor enjoyed rebuilding vehicles. He remodeled a pickup and painted it purple, his daughters’ favorite color, he loved fly fishing and hunting in his younger years.
Victor passed peacefully August 30, 2022 in Sheridan. Passing before him were his parents, Delbert and Lydia, his daughter Elaine Rae, his sister Myrna, brothers Harold, Vernon and Ronald.
Surviving are his wife Georgia of 47 years, his sisters Ina Snell, and Vickie (Ken) Jensen, his children Debra (Russ) Slivka, Brent (Lynn), Randall (Lynn) and Paula and Martin Olsen; twelve grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
Cremation has taken place and his ashes will be buried next to his daughter and also spread in the Big Horns. There will be no funeral as per his wishes. The family will be planning a graveside service for the resting of his cremains in the spring of 2023.
