Talented band and choir students from Worland High School have been selected to perform at the state level and beyond in winter 2023.
All State Band and Choir participants submitted an audition and were selected to participate in All-State Music in Sheridan on Jan. 16-17 with musicians from other Wyoming schools. Representing the Worland High School band will be Jacob Durrant playing bassoon, Canton Green playing trombone, Lucas Hamer playing trombone, Ethan Miller playing oboe and Harley Redding playing trombone. Representing the choir will be Ellianna Baumstarck singing soprano, Elizabeth Leach singing soprano and Joshua Yslava singing bass.
On Feb 18, Worland students will perform in the All Northwest Band and Choir event in Bellevue, Washington. High school musicians across Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Washington, Oregon and Alaska were given a prompt to audition by the National Association for Music Education. Students then prepare their own arrangement of the selected music and submit their auditions.
Six Worland band students submitted auditions up against hundreds of other students in the region. Of them, sophomore Jace Erickson made the cut. Six choir students were selected to perform in the All Northwest Choir: junior Ellianna Baumstarck, freshman Elizabeth Durrant, junior Joseph Durrant, sophomore Anna Gunderson and sophomore Elizabeth Leach.
