Maria del Socorro Garcia Arellano

Maria del Socorro Garcia Arellano, 72-year-old Worland resident passed away on January 4, 2023 at the Billings Clinic.

Socorro was born on July 25, 1950 in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico. The fifth child born to Juan T. and Catalina (Gonzales) Garcia.

Socorro (or Coy as her family called her), migrated to the U.S. early in her childhood, spending the majority of her younger years in Crystal City, Texas, which she called home. The Garcia family migrated across the U.S. following the agricultural circuit as many did in those days. She was raised with a strong work ethic and had many fond memories of her journeys. They enjoyed many rodeos, state fairs, and concerts.

Along this road in 1967, her family migrated to Worland where she met Santana. He was instantly head over heels and they were married shortly thereafter. Their union led to a fruitful family of four children.

Her faith in God was a major priority and an inheritance passed down from her mother. She was a faithful servant of Mt. Calvary for 55 years, ministering in many areas, including Youth Leader, Sunday School Teacher, and Women's Ministry Leader. She was always willing to lend a helping hand, whether it be at church activities or in the community. Anyone who knew her understood that her "tell it like it is" approach came from a sincere and very loving heart. She will be greatly missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Catalina and Juan Garcia; husband, Santana "Sandy" Arellano; brother, Raul Gonzales; sisters, Lola Veloz and Berta Rose Espinoza.

Survivors include her two sons, Joel Garcia Arellano and Jeremias Santana Arellano both of Worland, (grandson, who she helped raise) Miguel A. Arellano (Alisha) of Greeley, Colorado; two daughters: Noemi Arellano of Worland and Rebecca (Uriel) Arellano Contreras of Greeley; brothers: Gilberto (Angelica) Gonzales of Lansing, Michigan, Juan Garcia, Jr. of Grafton, North Dakota; sister Alicia Kalgard of Grafton, North Dakota; grandchildren: Joshua, Bettina, Angel, Jonathan, Izabella; and great-grandchildren: Izaiah and Kaycen; as well as her extended family, the Caballero family, Moreno family, Navarro Family, Cain Torrez family, her "mom", Lupe Contreras, the Molina family, Martinez family and several aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm, Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at Mount Calvary Assembly of God Church with Pastor Rey Moreno officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held 6:00 to 8:00 pm Monday evening at the church and again one hour prior to services. Memorial donations may be made to Mt. Calvary Assembly of God Church and sent to PO Box 524, Worland, WY 82401. Online condolences may be made at http://www.bryantfuneral
