The Northern Wyoming News staff earned honors at the 2023 winter convention of the Wyoming Press Association in Cheyenne last weekend.
Editor and Manager Karla Pomeroy earned a first place award in government issue reporting for coverage of the Board of Adjustment and Planning Commission special exemption hearing for the ambulance station and subsequent petition for review. She also earned an honorable mention in the spot news category for a house fire story.
Pomeroy also took a first place in general news photo category for her photo titled “To Catch A Leprechaun” of East Side teacher Carla Bryant getting surprised at the leprechaun trap shown by Ada Mae Ghostbear.
Sports Editor Alex Kuhn earned second place in sports column writing for a selection of his columns “Hear Me Out.”
Production Manager/Graphic Designer Jane Elliott earned an honorable mention in merchandise advertising for her Pit Stop Grand Opening ad.
