Donald Henry Eckhardt, affectionately known as "Bud", passed away on February 3, 2023 at the Washakie Medical Center in Worland with his loving family by his side. Bud was born in Worland on November 5, 1934, the youngest of two boys born to Jacob Eckhardt and Elizabeth Katherine (Bott) Eckhardt.
Bud married Margaret Kathryn Berry on February 10, 1957 in Greybull, Wyoming. To this union, three beautiful children were born, Karrie, Donna, and Thomas.
Bud was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. His "home away from home" was the Big Horn Mountains. He had the privilege of hunting with his six grandsons, Matt (Amy), Travis (Jannel), Kyle (Lissa), Josh (Chelsey), Elijsha, and Troy (Nikita). He also taught his granddaughter, Jamie (Jeff), to fish.
Bud was raised in Worland. He worked for N82 Fertilizer for several years before working at Holly Sugar. For thirty years, he was a boiler operator and mechanic. After retiring from Holly Sugar, he worked for the city of Worland. He served in the Wyoming Army National Guard as an artillery sergeant. He also served many years on the Worland Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the Worland Elks Lodge and of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Donna Eckhardt Johnson, son-in-law Greg, and brother, Robert.
Bud was a loving husband, father, and grandpa. Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 66 years, daughter, Karrie (Ron) Preuit of Roberts, Montana, son, Thomas Eckhardt of Gillette, seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
