Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years
Joel Garcia Arellano, 53-year-old Worland resident, passed away suddenly on February 13, 2023 in Worland, Wyoming.
Joel was born on September 5, 1969 in Carrizo Springs, Texas, the second of four children born to Santana Rodriguez Arellano and Maria del Socorro Garcia Arellano.
Joel grew up in Worland with his parents and three siblings. He grew up in a Christian home where his faith in God was instilled. After he graduated from Worland High School in 1988, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He worked as a Nuclear Missile Handling Technician and was very proud to serve his country. After his service to the Air Force, he returned home.
Exemplary of his undying loyalty to the community, was his two-decade dedication to Green Turf Lawnscapes. Under the confident support of his employers, Todd and Holly Graus, he helped grow the company into a thriving community driven business, providing services across the entire Basin and surrounding areas. Throughout his years of employment, he developed a family bond with Todd and Holly that reached beyond friendship. For many years he poured his heart into this company as if it were his own.
One of his greatest joys in life was his two children, Joshua and Bettina, and his two grandchildren, Izaiah and Kaycen. Buelo's daily morning routine consisted of getting his "shortie" a coffee, two doughnuts for the grandbabies, and taking "Zay" to school. He also enjoyed breakfast with his son Joshua. Even though he had a busy schedule, he always made time for his family and friends.
If you knew Joel, you knew how passionate he was about his sports whether it was watching the Dallas Cowboys from the comfort of his home or sitting in the bleachers cheering on his hometown Warriors. He was a dedicated fan who almost never missed a game. This passion led to great friendships and lasting memories.
He dedicated his time to others such as his daily encouragement posts and recovery leadership. Joel was a true friend to the community; he couldn't go into the local grocery store without someone stopping him to converse. He had the biggest heart which he wore on his sleeve, going above and beyond for those he cared for. His generous spirit and kind heart left a lasting impression wherever he went.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Santana Rodriguez Arellano and Maria Del Socorro Garcia Arellano. Survivors include his son, Joshua Z. Arellano; daughter, Bettina K. Arellano; grandchildren, Izaiah and Kaycen; brother, Jeremias S. Arellano; sisters, Noemi Arellano and Rebecca (Uriel) Arellano Contreras; and several aunts, uncles, nephew, nieces, and cousins.
