Diana Louise Salzman, 66, died March 3, 2023, surrounded by loved ones in Worland, Wyoming after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.
Diana was born on June 24, 1956 in Altoona, Pennsylvania to James William Lieb and Helen Marie Lieb, the first of five children born to James and Helen. Diana spent her adolescence growing up in Loretto, Pennsylvania. She attended elementary school at St. Michaels in Loretto. Her high school years were spent at Bishop Carroll High School in Ebensburg, Pennsylvania. Diana graduated magna cum laude from St. Francis College in Loretto, with a BS degree in social work.
Diana first started working at Camp Conshatawba with the girl scouts. This would eventually lead to her moving to Wyoming and working at the girl scout camp above Ten Sleep, Wyoming on Rome Hill. Diana held a few jobs in Wyoming, where she bartended in Ten Sleep, worked as the activities director at the local nursing home and eventually retired from Washakie County School District where she was a social worker.
Diana met her husband Bernard Salzman while bartending at the Big Horn Bar in Ten Sleep. Diana married Bernard on August 20, 1988. Living in Worland, they had two children, Joseph James Salzman and Alexis Marie Salzman.
Diana enjoyed many activities in here lifetime. She enjoyed working with animals, cross-country skiing, playing softball and working the many rodeos in the area. She also enjoyed helping children with their 4-H projects, working on puzzles, playing card games and playing the piano like her mother. Diana's favorite meal, even up until the end, was without a doubt, pizza and chocolate. Diana was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in April of 1998.
Diana was survived by her son, Joseph James Salzman and daughter, Alexis Marie Salzman, brothers: George (Jeanne) Lieb, Gregory Lieb, Karol (Roe) Lozinski, Tim (Jeannie) Phister, and Ed (Renee) Phister; sisters, Patricia Lieb, Marjorie (Gary) Whitlock, Amy (J.R) Forsythe and sister-in-law, Maura Fraser; also aunt, Dorothy Lieb and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Diana was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard, parents, James and Helen, stepfather, James Phister, and brothers, James Lieb and Tom Phister.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Friday, March 10, 2023 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Worland, streaming will also be available through their Facebook page. A burial service will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A rosary will be held at 7:00 pm Thursday, March 9, 2023 also at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church.
