Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years
For the fifth year in a row, Chief Washakie FFA has won the proficiency sweepstakes at the Wyoming State FFA Convention in Cheyenne last week.
The sweepstakes are awarded to the chapter that wins the top three proficiency awards at the state level. While the number of applications were down this because of the deadline being moved up six weeks, the chapter still managed to get a large number of quality applications in, according to Advisor Grace Godfrey.
FFA members can apply for any proficiency that fits their given SAE (supervised agricultural experience) after they have two full years of records. They may apply in as many areas as they qualify for, however, they may only be the state winner in one category a year. They can continue to apply one year after high school graduation.
