Homemakers honor volunteers, give back to community

The Washakie County Homemakers officially honored the 2023 Unsung Hero and presented Certificate of Appreciation to another volunteer during the Homemakers annual luncheon Saturday, May 6.

Linda Abell was honored as the 2023 Unsung Hero and she presented a Certificate of Appreciation to friend and fellow volunteer Mary Donnell. Abell said whenever she needed help on a project she would say, "Call Mary." Abell and Donnell currently decorate the window display monthly at the Worland Community Center.

The Homemakers also presented checks for $100 to five organizations - Washakie Hospital Foundation (to be used for their cancer fund), Washakie County Search & Rescue (for equipment), Worland Senior Center (for meals program), H Diamond W Ranch, New Hope Humane Society and Washakie Ministerial Association.

The funds are raised at the Homemakers Hobby Day Craft Show in November. Funds are also used for a $500 annual continuing education scholarship. Applications are being accepted for this year's scholarship. They are available at the University of Wyoming Extension office. Deadline is July 7.

Applications may be turned in to the Washakie County Extension Office or mailed to P.O. Box 609, Worland, WY 82401.
