Worland graduation events set

Worland High School seniors will don their caps and gowns and walk down the track this Sunday as they celebrate their graduation ceremony at Warrior Stadium.

WHS Principal Wade Sanford said, “This class has been strong academically and they have had success in all areas. They have seen success certainly with the boys and girls soccer teams, they are both doing very well; they’ve been a terrific group in activities such as FFA, All-State music, SkillsUSA and more. It’s a group of kids that have both participated and performed very well whether it be academics or the athletic and activity side. They’ve just been a really fun class to have passed through Worland High School.”

The ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. at the football stadium. Eighty-four seniors will participate, with two students receiving certificates of completion and 82 students receiving diplomas.

The class has three valedictorians — Melvin Croft, Court Gonsalez and DeEtte Hofmann — who will deliver speeches. Salutatorian Reece Sanford will also deliver a speech.

Senior Class President Carly Venable will introduce Middle School Principal Ryan Clark to deliver the commencement address.

On Wednesday, May 24 at 6 p.m. there will be graduation parade in keeping with a tradition that began during the COVID-19 pandemic. This event will not be affiliated with the school and is organized by parents, but all graduates of Worland High School as well as those who are home-schooled are welcome to participate. Around 90 entries expected according to founder and organizer Kara Anderson.

Worland Rotary has volunteered to sponsor the cost of insurance for the parade again this year.

A commemorative graduation section will be published in next week’s Northern Wyoming News.
