Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years
After over eight years with the University of Wyoming Extension Office, Caitlin Youngquist has left her position as an agriculture and horticulture educator.
Youngquist worked for most of her career with the Extension Office in the Northwest area, consisting of Park, Big Horn, Washakie and Hot Spring counties. Associate Director of the University of Wyoming Extension Office Bridger Feuz said, “Caitlin offered a broad spectrum of programming in both agriculture and horticulture with special emphasis on soil health and management. University of Wyoming Extension (UWE) strives to have a good balance of extension educators working community vitality and health (CVH) and agriculture and natural resources (ANR) throughout the state.”
Feuz said that when an educator leaves a county, the Extension office makes an informed decision on how to replace them. He said, “When an educator leaves a county, UWE looks at the needs of the county by discussing needs with local community members as well as looking at available needs assessment data, and the current distribution of educators in the area. Based on this process, UWE will be replacing Caitlin’s position with another agriculture and natural resources educator.”
Feuz stated that late next week, there will be an opening posted for the position of an agriculture and natural resources educator in Washakie County. Candidates must have a master’s degree, and one of their degrees must be in the field of either agriculture or natural resources. He said, “We look forward to continuing to serve Washakie County and are hopeful that a qualified candidate will emerge from our search. Washakie County has a tradition of outstanding extension service set by our current 4-H Youth Educator Amber Armajo as well as past ag educators like Caitlin Youngquist and Jim Gill.”
