Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years
April 8, 1926 was not just any ordinary day, at least for the happy couple Conrad Albert and Katherine (Lehman) Lass. For on this day, the air that encircled them was alive and electrifying with the long awaited and anticipated excitement of being able to hold their little bundle of love, Dorothy Lillian, for the very first time. This jubilant day for the celebration of Dorothy's life would continue long into the future.
Like many little girls in the small community of Worland, Wyoming, Dorothy grew up on a farm where she worked and played with her 2 brothers, Conrad and Robert, and her little sister Lorraine. Being the oldest sibling, Dorothy paved the path of example for her siblings in many ways - one of which was graduating from Washakie County School on May 12, 1944. She then went on to further her education in Missouri at Chillicothe Business College. Upon her return to Worland, she met and fell in love with her life partner, Arthur W. Schleiger, where they danced their way into saying "I Do" on August 3, 1947. Art and Dorothy built a life together diligently co-laboring in farming, gardening, and raising their 2 bundles of love, son Steven and daughter Marilyn.
Dorothy had many "loves" in her life, but none greater than the Love she had for her Savior and Best Friend, Jesus Christ. Her love and devotion for this Love of her Life began at an early age which continued to grow deeply into a life-long passionate relationship. Dorothy cherished her Jesus and took great pleasure in spreading His Love with her talents and giftings that helped transform the lives of many. Her life's dance with Jesus was openly displayed through many different types of "dances" using music, teaching, Bible studies, preaching, intercessory prayer, being a leader of a woman's church group, ministering at her "Friendship Coffee House", and being the voice of Jesus in many one-on-one encounters. Her love for Jesus and her enjoyment and passion for His Creation was also ever-so-evident whenever she put pen to paper pouring out the depths of her heart through poetry and devotional musings. Dorothy's countless, reflective hours of intimacy with Jesus resulted in the 'fruit of blessing' touching many lives.
We honor you, Dorothy, for running 'the good race' of Life, devotion, and love. We know for sure that the words, "Well done good and faithful daughter" resounded throughout Heaven early Sunday morning, August 13th, 2023. Your home-going day of celebration was marked by the start of a NEW dance, one which you have been saving on your dance card for your First Love, Jesus. You saved the best dance for last!
Mom, we want to thank you for passing the baton of a passionate Christ-Centered relationship of love and devotion for your Savior and Best Friend onto us - your son Steven (Becky), daughter Marilyn (Samuel), and grandson Shiloh.
