Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years
Maggie Ryan of Thermopolis, recently started teaching kindergarten at East Side Elementary. This is her first year teaching in Worland, and she is excited to be here and spend time with kids.
After growing up in Thermopolis, Ryan attended the University of Wyoming to pursue elementary education. Following college, Ryan returned to Thermopolis and taught first grade. Ryan, after taking a short break following her first year of teaching, wanted to get back into teaching in Worland. Ryan said she had heard good things about the district previously and knew Worland was a desirable place to teach. She had heard about the open position at East Side from another teacher and decided to give it a shot. Now that she's here, Ryan is happy to be "working in a school that has a positive culture" and looks forward to getting to know the kids and their families.
Ryan said that "kindergarten is a whole different world" in comparison, but the school year has gone well so far. Ryan said she knew she wanted to teach elementary education because she "wanted to help kids grow into little humans" and she appreciates the happy attitude that young kids bring into school with them each day.
When she's not teaching kids, Ryan can be found floating the river, hiking and attending football games back at the university.
