Thankful for local businesses

Year round and especially at the holiday season you hear the phrase shop local. This Saturday is Small Business Saturday to try and support small businesses who traditionally get overlooked during Thanksgiving weekend.

We all know it is fun to go out of town and shop, maybe have lunch and have an experience but before you go I do encourage you to first take a moment and check out what our local shops have to offer.

I encourage you to support the businesses who support this community. Their support is foremost shown in operating a business in a small town, but also by the many ways businesses give back to the community.

Our local businesses give to the senior center, to the food bank, they support the Pinnacle Bank Festival of Trees that supports many local nonprofit organizations. Businesses support our local sports teams, academic organizations, school trips, county fair and so much more.

Without your support of these local businesses they would be unable to help your children, grandchildren, your neighbors, your friends and others.

Here in Worland we have many new stores that have opened up and there are holiday pop-up stores in Worland and Ten Sleep.

Take some time and explore what local stores have to offer; you just might find a special treasure to put in someone’s stocking or to put under the tree.

If you are wondering what some of those treasures are, check out our holiday shopping guide on B1, B2 and B3.

As I was visiting these businesses seeking advertisements I was amazed at the variety, creativity and hard work each business owner puts into their business.

They work hard to try and provide what their customer needs, to the best of their ability.

There are many advantages to shopping local besides supporting local businesses who (as previously stated) support and invest in this community.

You can partake in giveaways (Worland hop-n-shop program and Thermopolis Merry Christmas Market).

You can get to know exactly what the businesses offer and by visiting the stores yourself you do not have to ask on social media and wait for answers.

You also get to take home the gift right then. You do not have to wait for UPS, USPS or FedEx to deliver the package (and you know during the holidays shipping always seems to get backed up or occasionally misdelivered).

You know immediately what items are in stock because you are looking at it. You can tell immediately what it looks like, if it is high quality rather than ordering it and risk being disappointed.

I would like to thank the many local businesses who have supported this local business, the Northern Wyoming News, this year through advertising. I would also like to thank our many readers, subscribers and those who purchase this newspaper off the newsstands. Thank you for supporting us through your readership.

And finally, I would like to thank every business, whether they have been in the community for 6 months, six years, and 60 years, thank you for investing in Worland and working to provide for this community.
