Bonnie Faye Hefenieder

Bonnie Faye (Kelly) Hefenieder died April 7, 2024, in Worland, Wyoming. She was born January 27, 1943, in Hamilton, Montana to Samuel and Nellie Dean (Warford) Kelly. The family moved to a farm northwest of Worland, Wyoming. She grew up near Worland and graduated from Worland High School in 1961.

Bonnie married William (Bill) Hefenieder on August 20, 1961. They made their home northeast of Worland on Washakie Ten Road, where they farmed and fed cattle. She supported Bill in the farming operations and managed the farm office. Much of her time was spent raising their four sons and, later, loving her grandchildren.

Bonnie's life was not only dedicated to caring for her family, but also volunteering in many community organizations. For years, she served in ministries at Zion Church including teaching Sunday school and participating in the Women's Guild. She was especially fond of supporting the county 4-H and FFA activities while her sons were involved and continued to volunteer at the fair for many years thereafter. Bonnie was an avid reader and served on the county library board, the state library board, and helped to create the Washakie County Library Foundation. In addition, she served on the school board and was part of the Washakie County Homemakers and the Red Hats.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; brothers, Sam Kelly, and John "Mason" Kelly; sister, Tola Stewart and two infant grandsons.

Bonnie is survived by four sons, William, Jr. (Judi) of Oakland Township, Michigan, John (Jan), James (Beth), and Robert (Melissa), all of Worland. She is survived by her grandchildren, Alfred (Jamie) Hefenieder, Blake (Shay) Hefenieder of Worland, Jade Hefenieder of Laramie, Wyoming, Cassie (Lucky) Speer of Riverton, Wyoming, Lily (Andrew) Szymczak of West Bloomfield, Michigan and Philip Hefenieder of Pontiac, Michigan. She leaves behind great grandchildren Abbie, Allie, Lucky, Jr., Solomon, RoseAnna, Gage, Elle, sister Betty Ernst of Casper, Wyoming, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
