Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years
In its regular meeting on Monday, June 10 the City of Worland Board of Adjustment and Planning Commission voted to approve a special exemption requested by Daylen and Keristyn Carrell for a mini-storage business at 417 Robertson Avenue.
This address is zoned for General Business but is adjacent to Light Industrial zoning, in addition to other General Business zoning. The Board first opened a public hearing on the matter, which found no concerns from Worland residents. Upon the recommendation of Building Official representative Jesse Frisbee, a motion to approve the exemption passed with members Steven Siebert and Michael Sanchez present, along with Vice Chairman James Donahue.
CREMATORY
REQUEST
The BAPC also revisited an agenda item from its previous meeting. In its May 29 regular meeting, BAPC members made no motion to approve or deny a zoning change request for 201 South Fifth Street, thus leaving the status of the request unclear. To accommodate a crematorium at the site, the Bryant Funeral Home had asked for zoning at this address to be changed from General Business to Light Industrial. In meeting June 10, City of Worland Clerk/Treasurer Tracy Glanz pointed out that if BAPC members had not been prepared on May 29 to vote on the request, it might have been better to table the motion, rather than leave it unresolved. In view of this, she suggested that the BAPC convene a new public hearing on the matter, with the City of Worland paying the cost for official notice of the meeting to be published three times in the Northern Wyoming News.
The motion to convene a new public hearing on the zoning change request, with the city paying costs for official notice publication, carried unanimously.
