Robert Fay Thorne

Robert Fay Thorne, born on July 20, 1940, in Worland, Wyoming, peacefully passed away on June 2, 2024, at the Washakie Medical Center with his family by his side. He was the beloved son of Charles Franklin and Beauna Faye Thorne, joining his two older brothers Charles and Richard in a tight-knit family. As a young boy, his family relocated to Cheyenne, where he began his educational journey. Later, during his junior year of high school, they moved to Wheatland, where he graduated from Wheatland High School.

Bob's passion for helping others led him to pursue a career in pharmacy. He attended pharmacy school in Laramie, graduating in 1967. On August 15, 1965, he married Roberta Wakefield, with whom he shared the joys and challenges of life. Together, they welcomed three children into their family: Mark, Keri, and Scott. Although their paths diverged, Bob remained dedicated to his children throughout his life.

In 1989, Bob found love again when he married Dee Ann Mills, embarking on a 35-year journey filled with love, companionship, and shared adventures. Their blended family grew with the addition of Dee Ann's kids, Todd and Michelle, cementing their bond even further.

Bob's professional journey was marked by dedication and service. He initially worked at Graham Drug before eventually purchasing the store in 1975, continuing a family tradition alongside his father and brother, Charles. For over 30 years, he served his community as a pharmacist, providing care and support to countless individuals. Even after selling the store to Pamida, Bob remained committed to his profession, working until his well-deserved retirement. His 50 years as a registered pharmacist were a testament to his unwavering commitment and expertise.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Bob was deeply involved in his community. He served on the fire department, participated in search and rescue missions, and was an active member of the Jaycees and Rotary Club. His dedication to Rotary included overseeing the youth exchange program for several years, shaping the lives of young people in his community.

Bob found solace and joy in the great outdoors, indulging in hunting, fishing, camping, and the pursuit of his love of golf. He cherished his time spent in the Big Horns with Dee Ann, creating lasting memories amidst nature's beauty.

Above all, Bob's greatest source of pride and joy was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, finding immense happiness in witnessing their accomplishments and sharing in their lives. His love knew no bounds, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Bob was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church, where he served on the trustees board, embodying his commitment to serving others and strengthening his community.
