Edward Stanley Skworch

Edward Stanley Skworch, 84, passed away peacefully at Washakie Medical Center on July 19, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 12, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois, to Stanley Edward and Cecilia Theresa Skworch.

Ed was a dedicated public servant, a loving family man, and a cherished friend to many throughout his vibrant and impactful life. After graduating from Carl Sandburg High School in 1958, Ed entered military service. From 1958-1962 Ed served in the US Army, eventually becoming a Drill Sergeant where he demonstrated immense dedication and leadership. After his military service, he continued his career in law enforcement with the Palos Hills Police Department. Ed earned his associate's degree from Moraine Valley Community College during that time as well. Ed retired from the Palos Hills Police Department as a Sergeant and became an investigator with the National Auto Theft Bureau where his meticulous attention to detail and years of experience were invaluable.

In 1982, Edward met the love of his life, Gloria Dellos at the Hickory Hills Supper Club, where they danced the entire night. Their whirlwind romance led to marriage on September 29, 1984. Together, they created a blended family, adding to Edward's three children, Michael, Michele, and Monica with Gloria's two children, Heidi and Howard.

In 1992, Edward and Gloria relocated to Ten Sleep, Wyoming, to be closer to Gloria's family. Retirement brought Edward joy in meticulously maintaining their beautiful yard and apple orchard in the Ten Sleep Canyon, where the creek runs through their property. Even though Ed was legally blind, he and Gloria "Frick and Frack Enterprises" tackled many projects together which included remodeling their home, building a deck, and a beautiful pagoda over their hot tub.

Ed was an active member of the American Legion and served as a member and past president of the Ten Sleep/Hyattville Lions Club. He and Gloria took pride in decorating the float for the Fourth of July parade, and then they followed and took pictures of the pony express riders who carried the mail on horseback from Hyattville to Ten Sleep for many years.

Edward embraced small-town life, finding happiness in simple pleasures like camping, grilling, boating, and fishing, watching Sci-Fi movies, and doing computer research. Ed and Gloria enjoyed traveling, taking trips to Maui and a Caribbean cruise, and spending six winters in their fifth wheel in Arizona. Edward and Gloria loved to entertain their family and friends at their Ten Sleep "paradise" in the canyon. Edward's true nature was characterized by compassion and warmth. "Autumn" their beloved cat, held a special place in Edward's heart, he was a "Gentle Giant", which proved that his "bark was worse than his bite".

Ed's passing was preceded by his parents, Stanley and Cecilia, and his beloved daughter, Monica. His life was marked by his unwavering integrity, kindness, and sense of humor that brought joy to those around him. He was deeply respected in his community and profoundly loved by his family. Ed's legacy will live on forever in the countless lives he touched.

Married to Gloria (Dellos) Skworch for nearly 40 years, Ed leaves behind his lovely wife Gloria; his siblings Eleanor and her husband, Glenn Schoenfelder, and Mary Ann Reno. Ed was father to Michael, Michele, and the late Monica. He was a loving stepfather to Heidi and Howard. Ed was also a guiding light to his grandchildren: Ralph, Andrew, Alyssa, Georgie, Mark, Hailee, Michael, James, Olivia and Jacob, enriching their lives with love, and wisdom. He was uncle to Patty, Eddie, Katie, Kyle, Heidi, Rob, Theresa, Cynthia, and Clinton, all of whom will miss his guiding presence.
