George tops ticket; Gill also advances in mayor's race

Worland City Council member Rebecca George topped the ticket for the mayor's race in Tuesday's primary election.

George received 534 votes. George said, "I would like to say thank you to the supporters during this election. I really appreciate it. We will continue and do this in the November election."

Mayor Jim Gill received 402 votes to also advance to the Nov. 5 general election. "I feel honored the citizens of Worland hung with me to get me into the general election," he said.

Bruce Nolting received 361 votes. He thanked his supporters during the election and congratulated George and Gill.

In the council races, there were 49 write-ins for the four-year Ward 1 seat. Bill Glanz had announced a write-in campaign shortly before the election.

There were 71 write-in votes for the two-year seat in Ward 2 with no one filing for that seat.

There are two four-year seats up in Ward 2 with incumbent Wendy Fredricks receiving 420 votes as the lone candidate on the primary ballot. There were 42 write-in votes cast.

In the race for the one four-year seat in Ward 3, William Worley topped the ticket with 156 votes as he seeks reelection. Tony Wartman received 107.

Both will advance to the general election.
