U.S. Senator John Barrasso and U.S. Rep. Harriet Hageman were declared winners in their respective party nomination races Tuesday night, about an hour after polls closed.
Unofficially, according to the Wyoming Secretary of State’s website, with all 23 counties reporting Barrasso won the Republican nomination with 70473 votes, Reid Rasner with 25,424 votes and John Holtz with 7,867 votes.
Washakie County followed this trend, with 1,171 votes cast for Barrasso, 510 for Rasner and 109 for Holtz.
The Democratic Senate nominee Scott Morrow has 10,088 votes, 114 votes in Washakie County.
Barrasso released this statement following the declaration, "Thank you, Wyoming. I am grateful for your overwhelming vote of confidence. I will continue to fight for every vote this November. Together, we can restore a Republican majority in Washington and secure a better future for hard-working Wyoming families."
In the House of Representatives race, Hageman won by a landslide with 82,765 votes to her opponent Steven Helling’s 19,738 with all 23 counties reporting early Wednesday morning.
In Washakie County, Hageman received 1,758 votes to Helling’s 286.
The Democratic nominee for House of Representatives is Kyle Cameron, who received 10,047 votes 115 in Washakie County.
Hageman released the following statement upon the race being called in favor of her, “I am grateful to the people of Wyoming for entrusting me with their seat in the House of Representatives, and I reiterate my promise that I will never forget who sent me there and why. We have fought many battles together, and there are many more to come, as we defend our great state and proud nation against radical activists who are trying to destroy us from within.”
“We must redouble our efforts to rebuild our economy, produce our own energy, secure our national borders, and protect our communities. We must fight for our rights to farm and ranch on our own lands, to access our minerals and natural resources, and to pursue happiness without interference from a meddlesome federal government still permeated by unelected bureaucrats with too much authority. And we must fight to re-elect President Trump, who understands the challenges we face here at home, and supports our right to self-determination.
“In short, we must never stop fighting for our freedoms. And as long as I draw breath, I will never give up that battle on behalf of my beloved state of Wyoming and these United States, the greatest nation the world has ever known.”
