Webber joins teaching staff at East Side

After growing up in Worland and staying in Thermopolis for 20 years, Bethany Webber is excited to continue her teaching career as an intervention teacher at East Side Elementary this school year.

Webber said, "I love teaching, I have been instructing students of all ages for close to 18 years." She has worked in Washakie County School District No. 1 for three years as a substitute teacher leading up to this year.

She added, "Prior to that I worked in Hot Springs County as an elementary teacher and the owner/operator of Kiddie Kollege Preschool in Thermopolis."

Webber told the story of how she was born in Worland and attended her freshman year at Worland High School. She says, "As a child I moved around quite often; the remainder of my high school education was in Cody, Wyoming, where I graduated and met my husband."

From there, Webber and her future husband attended the University of Wyoming, where she pursued a bachelor's degree in art. She recalls that during her time at university she fell in love with teaching, which would lead her to early childhood education, which she ultimately received her bachelor's degree in.

Webber still resides in Thermopolis with her husband and two sons, and will commute daily to Worland. She says, "I use my time during the commute to plan my day, think of new ways to make learning fun and thank God for my blessings."

She explains her role as an intervention teacher, saying, "I truly believe that student success begins with positive relationships and acceptance. As the behavior interventionist teacher this year I look forward to providing a unique opportunity for each child to get his/her basic needs met while building social and emotional skills. We will start each day with the understanding that we are here to learn, be safe and are cared for. In high school I had an amazing art teacher, Mr. Terry, who made me want to come to school every day. Without him I may not have graduated; I will strive to be that teacher for my students."

Webber looks forward to the school year, saying that she is eager to build positive relationships with her students and their families, as well as her colleagues and the Worland community. She adds, "I am grateful for the opportunity to work here in Worland, and look forward to an amazing year. Go Eagles!"
