School board, special district races set

The filing period for special districts concluded Monday night with two candidates challenging incumbents for the three Washakie County School District No. 1 four-year seats.

Washakie County School District No. 1 incumbents Johnathan Hake, Brett Argeris and David R. Tommerup have filed for reelection. Becky Dooley and Shane Seghetti have also filed and will be on the ballot Nov. 5.

For Washakie County School District No. 2, the incumbents are all poised for reelection with no challengers. They are Shana Harstad, Jared Lyman and Erin K. Blutt.

The Washakie County Conservation District has two positions open for election. Incumbent Susan Pennington has filed for the rural position and Andrew Mills of Ten Sleep has filed for the at-large, currently held by Daniel Greet. Greet did not file.

Incumbents all filed for their respective seats on the Worland Fire Protection District No. 1 Board — Kent Lombard, Tim Surat and Tad E. DeBolt. There were no other filings.

The Ten Sleep Fire Protection District has two open positions for four-year terms with Myles Bush and Mark Brewster filing; both are currently on the board.

The Ten Sleep Cemetery District has three positions open, one two-year term and two four-year terms. Incumbents are Jan Michael and Randall Firnekas, both have filed for their respective four-year seats. Terril Mills is the lone candidate for the two-year term.

One of two of the Fifth Judicial District Court judges is up for retention. Voters will decide on whether to retain Judge Bill Simpson for another six years.

Both of the Fifth Judicial Circuit Court Judge positions are up for retention — Judges Joseph Darrah and Edward Luhm will see if voters retain them for another four years.

All judges are initially appointed by the governor and the voters decide on retention.
