Marcia Maud Lowry

Marcia Maud Lowry, 71 of Crowheart Wyoming passed away on September 16th at the Huntsman Cancer center in Salt Lake City, Utah after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Marcia was born September 2nd, 1953, in Worland Wyoming to Jack and Eunice Lowry. Following High School Marcia married and had two sons John and Jeff Bates.

Marcia worked as the secretary at the Worland Middle School known to the students as Mrs. Burns Following her years at the school Marcia moved to Rapid City SD working with the Department of Family services and finally settling at the family homestead in Crowheart Wy.

Marcia was a strong independent woman who chose to live off the land raising cattle, sheep chickens, pigs, horses and cats. She was often kidded for having a petting zoo of a ranch as nearly every animal had a name. She enjoyed her garden and preserving anything that could be canned and stored. As much or more than growing and raising all these things she enjoyed cooking them as well being a very innovative and creative cook.

She is survived by her sister, Marilynn (Jock) Ward of Buffalo Wyoming, nieces Joy (Terry) Allen of Gillette Wy. and Jill (Eric) Borchers also of Gillette. Her two children John (Kerri) Bates of Cheyenne Wy, and Jeff (Janet) Bates of Crowheart Wy. and stepson Adam Burns of Vancouver Washington. She had 5 grandchildren Jackie Hernandez of Worland Wy, Austin and Brooklyn Bates of Crowheart, and Slater and Trona Bates of Cheyenne.

A celebration of life will be held at the Crowheart Community Center October 5th from 11am to 2 pm.
