Doris Elaine Pitz, 90, passed away September 24, 2024 at the Worland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Doris was born on November 17, 1933 in Mansfield, South Dakota on November 17, 1933. She attended Central High School in Aberdeen, South Dakota, graduating in 1951. Doris married Merle Duane Pitz November 10, 1952. The couple spent the next three and one-half years following Merle along the east coast while he served in the US Navy. The next part of their journey took them to back to Mina and Aberdeen where they lived on a farm for three years. Getting the itch to move on, the couple moved their family to Forbes, North Dakota where they worked on a ranch and she ran a cafe at the Ellendale Sale Barn. The family moved to Worland, Wyoming where they purchased the Cottonwood Ranch. Doris ran the café in the Worland Livestock Auction for 6 more years.
Doris was very talented in many areas, including upholstery and machine embroidery, even making chaps. In 1989 she purchased an embroidery machine which she used to create logos on hats, shirts and jackets both in Lewistown, Montana and Ten Sleep, Wyoming.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Merle; brothers, Clifford, Dale and Allen and sister, Marjorie Stangle. Survivors include her children: John (Nancy) Pitz of Filer, Idaho; Rita (Ron) Lund of Lewistown; and Connie (Gorde) Reed of Worland; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Beverly Bauer of Aberdeen, South Dakota and extended family, George and Laureen Metzler, Mark and Shelda Flaten.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, October 26, 2024 at the Ten Sleep Cemetery with Kendra Ware officiating. Donations may be made out to the American Legion Post #44 and sent to PO Box 524 Worland, Wyoming 82401. Online condolences may be made at http://www.bryantfuneral
