Serving the Big Horn Basin for over 100 years
Terry Dean Pierce, 74, passed away doing what he loved, in the place he loved the most, hunting in the Big Horn Mountains on October 18, 2024.
Terry was born on September 4, 1950, in Alliance, Nebraska, one of seventeen children born to Milford Howard and Alice Flossie (Hammer) Pierce. He spent many summers at his grandparent's house in Bellmont, Nebraska. He along with his brother, Melvin, would help with the chores and farmwork, but spent numerous hours exploring the woods nearby.
He met Kathleen Anne Schmidt and the couple married on October 24, 1972 in Rapid City, SD. Soon after, Brian, then Becky joined the family. In 1979, they moved to Worland, Wyoming where Bradd and Brenda made their family complete. Terry worked for Pepsi, where he was a forklift operator. He often referred to his machine as being his "front loader". An accident on the job forced his early retirement in the beginning of the 1990's.
Terry came to Wyoming because of his love for the mountains. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, camping, 4-wheeling and snowmobiling. On camping trips, he was always ready fishing pole in hand, to catch the next legend. Black Butte held many memories for the family, as it was Terry's favorite spot to be. He was always there for his children, armed with a good "Dad" joke. Like many Wyomingites, he had a strong opinion on politics, yet really disliked political conversations. He enjoyed watching boxing and was a "bonus dad" for his nephew Kyle. He also kept the family trait of being able to talk to anyone, anywhere and helping those who needed a little hand up.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Harold, Ronald, David and Melvin; sisters: Maradean Pierce, Linda Pierce, Wanda Weisgerber, Sherry Pierce, Betty Caldwell, Christene Pierce. Survivors include his loving wife of over 50 years, Kathy; sons, Brian (Marcy) Pierce, Bradd Pierce; daughters, Becky Pierce, Brenda Pierce all of Worland.
No formal services are planned. The family will gather at a later date to spread Terry in his favorite places. Memorial donations may be made to New Hope Humane Society or Park County Animal Shelter. Checks may be sent to PO Box 524, Worland, WY 82401. Online condolences may be made at http://www.bryant
