Jeannette "Jane" O'Connor

Jeannette "Jane" O'Connor, a beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in Worland, Wyoming, on Friday, January 24, 2025.

Jane was born on May 31, 1935, in Ten Sleep, Wyoming, as the only daughter of seven children to Nick and Hazel (Harvard) Geis. Jane graduated from Worland High School in 1953 and went to business school in Denver, Colorado at Central University. She also attended the University of Wyoming and Western Montana College in Dillon.

Jane married James "Jim" O'Connor at St. Mary Magdalen Church on September 7, 1957. Jim's work moved their family to Lander, Laramie and Rawlins, then to Colorado, Oregon, Montana, New Mexico, and Virginia. While in New Mexico and Virginia, Jane was a high school registrar. In 1994, she and Jim moved back to Worland and into the home Jane and her brothers grew up in. Their love for travel and life took them to all 50 states, and 33 countries on 6 continents. She was always eager to explore new cultures and experience different ways of life.

Jane was deeply involved in her hometown community. She was an active member of the Garden Club and Tree Board, with her own home being known around town as the "Tulip House." She and Jim ran the Worland Food Bank for eleven years and Jane volunteered at Born Again for many years. She and Jim were committee members of the annual Wyoming State BBQ and Bluegrass Festival and continued as corporate sponsors after their volunteering days were over. She was a talented seamstress and spent many hours patiently passing on her knowledge to her daughter and granddaughters.

Jane's memory will be cherished by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who will always remember her unwavering love, wisdom, and zest for life. Her spirit of adventure and commitment to service will continue to inspire them. Jane's family and friends will always remember her as a positive person, world traveler, and pillar of her community. Her legacy of love and kindness will live on through all who knew her.

Jane was preceded in death by her mother and father: Nick and Hazel Geis; brothers: Nicholas V. Geis, Homer F. Geis, Neil C. Geis, Sydney Harold Geis, and Gerald E. Geis.
