Mary Alice (Young) Clay

Mary A. Clay, 94, passed away peacefully at Washakie Medical Center in Worland on January 21, 2025, with her family by her side.

Mary was born on December 21, 1930, in Martin City, Missouri, the sixth of seven children born to Burr William and Marion Irene (Adams) Young. She married Forrest L. Clay on September 16, 1977, in Laramie, Wyoming.

Mary attended school in Grandview, Missouri. After graduation, she moved to Wyoming, first to Casper and later to Douglas before settling in Worland in 1951. Her employment opportunities included Western Auto in Kansas City, Missouri, Nicolaysen Lumber in Casper, Wyoming; the LaBonte Hotel in Douglas, Wyoming; John's Food Basket (IGA) and Pepsi Cola Company in Worland, where she retired as an office manager.

She was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church, Daughters of the Nile and served on the University of Wyoming's Health and Sciences Board of Directors. Her hobbies included golfing, fishing and horseback riding.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael Lee Patrick; brothers, Raymond Jean Young, Ray William Young, Donald Burr Young; sisters: Elva Myrel Baker, Marion Leona Marlolf, and Doris Leona Skeens.

Survivors include her husband, Forrest Clay; son: Timothy Dee (Lori) Patrick of Ten Sleep, Wyoming; stepson, Kelly Clay of Jackson, Wyoming, stepdaughter, Kerby (Louie) Pfrangle of Worland; sister-in-law, Jenean Patrick of Worland; eleven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
